Class Divides and Social Mobility

Many diverse groups reside within Cooltopia. Some enjoy working outside, tending to the land, while others have responsibilities thrust upon them at an early age. Royalty and Leaders of Orders are generally well respected, except for times of uncertainty or fear. These times cause unrest within the smaller villages, especially if the presence of the Royal Guard and Order Leaders is lacking.
There is a divide in class throughout Cooltopia, but with the exception of Royalty, class is chosen by individuals. Royalty are generally those who innovate or partake in long hours of research and work in Diamond City or Calcite City.
Cooltopians can move around relatively freely, but it is dependent on merit. Those with a good level of intelligence can easily move into the research and innovative areas of the class system, just below the Royalty level.
Cooltopians can also move down a class freely.
A class level doesnβt necessarily mean rich or poor, it more means what type of lifestyle is desired. Some prefer to relax and have a slower paced life in the villages and towns of Cooltopia, while others thrive for innovation and end up moving to the bigger cities.
The bigger the city the more luxurious the goods and services are. But that is just part of living in a bigger city. There is a lot more to living a life in Cooltopia than the things in it. Helping others is important and respected among all of the denizens of Cooltopia.
Adventurers are their own class level. They donβt tend to mingle heavily with law, systems and any government structure. They are respected and revered among non-adventurers. It is a dangerous role to take on, yet required in a lot of circumstances to help defend the good denizens of Cooltopia.
Even though lives are chosen, there are still times of prejudice like in any world. Those living simple lives and tending to the land will, at times, perceive a sense of greed coming from Royalty if they feel they are hoarding treasure for themselves. Even in cases when Royalty are only acting for the good of the land, there are still rumors that perpetuate mistrust among the villages.
